Goodyear Makes US Reputation Top 20
Forbes magazine has bestowed the honour of being named one of the Reputation Institute’s most respected American companies upon the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Goodyear is 16th on the publication’s list, details of which can be found on the publication’s website.
The RI’s criteria for ranking include the organisation’s “seven dimensions of reputation”, which comprise products/services, innovation, workplace, citizenship, governance, leadership and performance. The ratings were generated by the RI’s Global Pulse consumer opinion survey, while the company’s score of 76.0 shows an impressive 7.54 increase on 2007’s score. Goodyear is the sole representative of the tyre manufacturing industry on the list.
Robert Keegan, Goodyear’s chairman and CEO, was understandably delighted with the ranking: “It demonstrates that our strategy to offer high-quality, innovative tires with consumer-relevant technology is resonating with American drivers.”
“Consumers put their trust in Goodyear every time they get behind the wheels of their cars. Every Goodyear associate appreciates and values that trust.”
The recognition from RI and Forbes is the fifth significant honour for Goodyear in 2008. The company was named the world’s most admired company in the motor vehicle parts industry by Fortune magazine. Audit Integrity Inc. and Forbes magazine ranked Goodyear sixth on their list of America’s most trustworthy companies. The Wall Street Journal recognized Goodyear for leading shareholder return for the past five years in the automotive category. Goodyear was also ranked among the Top 100 Corporate Citizens selected by CRO magazine.
