B&J Rocket Announce Contest Winners at Essen
Reifen 2008 was lucky enough to be chosen as the stage for the exciting conclusion of the B&J Rocket Pro Team Competition, which saw retreading professionals using B&J products submit photographs of their teams in action. As if this wasn’t enough, the company also took the time to present their latest innovation, named Rocket Tyre New – a colour refresher for old and used tyres. Coming in a plastic bottle with an integrated sponge, Rocket Tyre New reinvigorates old, greyed tyres, restoring their dark matt colour tone without so much as dirtying the user’s hands. B&J say that the colour is durable and, because it contains no trace of silicon – a substance potentially harmful to rubber and contained within many other brands’ colour refreshers – Rocket Tyre New won’t leave an unnatural sheen of the rubber surface. The product is aimed at tyre service stations, second-hand car dealers, car wash facilities, museums and car/motorbike restorers who set a high value on a perfect look. B&J is confident that Rocket Tyre New will bring to an end “the onerous job of cleaning tyres, once and for all”, making the process “as easy as polishing your shoes.”
Back at the main event on B&J’s Reifen 2008 stand, an impressive, perhaps even daunting, 100-strong line-up of photographs were presented to lovely judges Anna and Alexa, the B&J booth hostesses. Somehow – no doubt after much soul-searching and heated debate – the ladies were able to reach a consensus, and the prizes of a high-quality barbecue set and a barrel of beer were awarded to OBO in the Netherlands, placed first. Second and Third places went to Reifen John of Freilassing, Germany and Hu Guan Sun of China respectively. The highly-competitive contest, which saw teams entering last-minute efforts at Reifen, can be viewed at the B&J website. Andreas Müller, B&J’s MD explained that “Our primary aspect of the campaign was the team idea… We focussed on the actual users, those who work with our tools every day, to convince them of our quality, and to tie them closer to B&J.” After curating such a well-received contest, Müller promised to continue investing in customer loyalty. It will be interesting to see what they come up with next.
