Unity Tyres Moves into New 28,500 sq ft Warehouse
In January 2007 Unity purchased the new unit situated at the Airedale Business Park Keighley and then the real work began in October 2007 to transform the interior and exterior of the building. A two storey office complex was built at the front of the unit to house the sales and administration functions, whilst comprehensive interior and exterior works were completed to provide warehousing and delivery facilities. In addition to the 28,500 sq ft warehouse there is a 16,000 sq ft yard to provide additional storage capacity for large section agricultural and earthmover tyres.
The demand for brands such as Nankang has reportedly spearheaded the need for Unity to increase its stock holding capability. Company representatives told Tyres & Accessories that its longstanding relationship with Nankang Rubber & Tire has enabled Unity to provide customers with a brand that has been available in the UK for over 25 years and is synonymous with Unity Tyres. The Nankang brand of passenger car, van and 4×4 tyres is available for wheel diameters from 13 to 20 inches and 70, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40 and 35 series profiles.
As well as providing the opportunity to expand its North of England base of operation, it has also given Unity a platform onto which to install the latest technology in computer hardware, software and telecommunications; to provide a seamless service and up to the minute stock and delivery information which customers require. The move to Airedale Business Park was completed on 1 May and the unit is now fully operational with increased stock holding and fully functional sales, marketing and administration departments. All warehouses are now wholly owned by the company.
To further the progress of the business Unity have introduced a new software system provided by Cam Systems, which has allowed them to take “a quantum leap” forward in the day-to-day management of their business and enables them to provide their customers with accurate information on stock availability. “In the very near future a seamless order point right through to delivery of goods will also be available, ensuring they are at the cutting edge of service provision in their market sector,” Unity representatives concluded.
