Smithers Rapra Hosts REACH Seminar
With pre-registration underway for companies using chemicals under the European Union’s REACH legislation, Smithers Rapra in Shropshire are holding a one-day seminar responding to “the increasing concern amongst companies now faced with managing registration, technical dossiers, joint submission of data and the obligations of supply chain communication.” The seminar promises to be useful to small or medium-sized enterprises using chemicals in the tyre industry.
“Implementing REACH – The Year Ahead” will be presented by Dr. Steffen Erler, who heads the REACH Services division at Smithers Rapra and – as an expert in chemistry and toxicology – has been involved in drafting and designing parts of the REACH Implementation Projects and has acted as a researcher and consultant for companies, investors and regulators preparing for REACH. It will take place at Smithers Rapra, in Shawbury, Shropshire on Thursday 26 June.
REACH concerns the regulation for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals and is currently in the company preregistration period from 1 June to 1 December 2008. The legislation promises to affect any company dealing with chemical substances and will have an impact on all areas of their businesses. The seminar will address these specific effects and provide practical guidance on meeting the criteria set out in European law.
