Pirelli P6000 Victorious in Wheels Test
Pirelli’s P6000 has been awarded top marks in Tyre Test 2008 – a challenging series of tasks conducted by Australia’s Wheels Magazine. The P6000 was given a total score of 99.01 out of a possible 100, making it the top tyre tested in the 195/60R15 category.
Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric received similar high praise from the magazine, ranked first in the 235/45R17 category and picking up an almost equally impressive score of 98.95.
Qualifying the victory of these two tyres in particular, Wheels was quick to point out the excellent performance of each tyre tested. The exceptional standard of the entries was underlined by the scores of the lowest placed tyre in each category; 95.92 and 94.14/100 respectively.
Other highly competitive tyres in the 235 category included the Falken FK 453, the Accelera Alpha and the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. The 195 range meanwhile contained excellent showings from the Bridgestone Turanza ER300, the Sumitomo HTR 60V and the Accelera Beta.
The 235s were put through a series of challenges in wet and dry conditions, having been fitted to a Holden VE Calais, while an entry-level Mazda 3 provided the testing zone for the 195s in dry conditions only.
