Proud Farmers Wanted
Goodyear is on the look-out for the UK’s top performing agricultural innovator. And what’s more the company is offering £3500 worth of Goodyear Farm tyres and the title of Goodyear Proud to be a Farmer Award 2008 to the most innovative farmer the company comes across. Anyone interested in entering the competition is encouraged to enter the competition via the Goodyear website www.mygoodyear.co.uk.
This year Goodyear celebrates 70 years of specialised farm tyre supply within the UK. To celebrate these innovations over the last 70 years Goodyear has teamed together with Harper Adams University College based near Shropshire, to create the Proud to be a Farmer Award. This award is searching for the UK’s most innovative, pioneering and ground breaking farmer. “Harper Adams is one of the UK’s top agricultural universities and offers a wealth of knowledge on farming practice and innovation. They will be using their expertise to help us select a winner of the Proud to be a Farmer award 2008” said Andy Morris, Director of Goodyear Farm Tyres.
“If you have had a major breakthrough on your farm, discovered something that makes you more eco friendly, or found an innovative new use for farm tyres, then you could be the one holding the Goodyear Proud to be a Farmer Award at the British Ploughing Championships in October.”
Over last 70 years Goodyear has been on a continuous journey of research, development and innovation. From the development of their first 45 degree lug bar farm tyre, the Ultra Torque, introduced to the UK in 1938, to its famous Traction Sure Grip design which is still much sought after by the Historic Tractor owner. Today Goodyear produce the market leading Optitrac traction drive radial range. This innovative and unique farm tyre concept uses the latest generation compound and construction technology which can increase load carrying capacity or allow reduced inflation pressures to help minimise soil compaction. The optimised tyre footprint shape offers even pressure distribution as well as the premium tread depth allowing enhanced traction.
