National Tyres Continues Support of Cancer Charity
Following National Tyres and Autocare’s initiative in the month of March to raise funds for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, representatives from the company pledged £25,000 to a Glasgow Maggie’s centre. The money was raised at National Tyres outlets; during the March initiative customers were asked if they would donate £1 when making a purchase. To date, National Tyres has raised over £200,000 to help cancer suffers over the years.
Upon his visit to the centre, which was reported in Glasgow’s Evening Times newspaper, National Tyres chairman Alan Revie said “the staff and volunteers at the centre were an inspiration and my visit reinforced my belief that Maggie’s Centres make a difference to real people and that we have to support their work in any way we can.”
The money raised will be used to support work carried out be the Maggie’s centres throughout Scotland and will contribute to the charity’s intended opening of six centres in England and Wales in the upcoming few years. The service provided by Maggie’s is free of charge to cancer sufferers. Maureen Fee, centre head for Maggie’s Glasgow, commented that “without support from companies like National Tyres and Autocare, families living with a diagnosis of cancer would not be able to access the vital support Maggie’s provide.”
