Criticism is a Compliment?

Having sold in excess of 11,000 wheel aligners into the UK market, Supertracker is ready to defend the merits of ‘Hang-On Systems,’ saying they are readily accepted by customers as having proved themselve in the industry over the past twenty one years.

Almost a year since it relocated to a new custom built base in Southampton in order to better promote its latest STR 200 and STR 400, Supertracker’s Managing Director, Trevor Lovesy, was surprised by recent statements in the tyre media claiming that retail outlets cannot offer a truly professional wheel alignment service with a ‘hang-on system’ as, in his opinion, is completely unfounded: “If a tyre fitter works with the best alignment tools it is still up to him to use them to the best of his ability. In effect it is not the product that prevents them from providing a professional service and in our opinion Supertracker’s products offer an extremely high standard of service every time and to state that a hang-on system is not efficient is totally misleading to the industry.”

Most modern cars are now fully adjustable for alignment and therefore can be measured on any Supertracker aligner and provide a very efficient and reliable wheel alignment service. In Trevor’s opinion the fact that it is hang-on is irrelevant.

He continued: “All Supertracker systems measure across the diameter of the wheel but a computerised system (that uses a clamp) only measures across a 20mm location flange therefore it cannot be as accurate. A car should always be measured as it’s driven (at the actual ride height) which always happens with a Supertracker alignment.”

Taking everything into account, Supertracker representatives told Tyres & Accessories that the company takes such “unconstructive criticism” as a compliment.

Trevor Lovesy concluded: “Supertracker currently provide a number of leading tyre retail players including Kwik-Fit, ATS, Central Tyre, Stapleton’s, Exhaust Tyres & Batteries, Bathwick tyres and Setyres plus the vast majority of independent garages and tyre outlets who are all using Supertracker’s hang-on products to very successful effect. In fact it is estimated that between 60 and 70 per cent of the UK market use our products, so can it be possible they are all getting it wrong? I don’t think so.”
