A Dozen Retailers Join First Stop Network
Twelve tyre retailers have joined Bridgestone UK’s First Stop network, taking the total number of outlets to 165. At the start of 2008, Bridgestone announced a target of expanding the network by an additional 30 outlets during the course of the year. The new dealerships are based across the UK.
Mark Fereday, retail development manager for Bridgestone UK, said: “We are focussed on growing our network of like-minded independent tyre dealerships. There is a growing appetite within the independent sector for support from a larger organisation like Bridgestone and we have listened carefully to the needs of our dealerships.
“In the year ahead, Bridgestone will support the First Stop network through a range of targeted promotions designed to help our dealerships in growing their businesses. We are also investing in the network through a comprehensive refurbishment programme, which will ensure that customers enjoy a pleasant and welcoming environment at First Stop outlets.”
Among the new dealerships is Watling Tyres in Swanley, which means that the entire group is now part of the First Stop network. As a new First Stop member, Bridgestone is supporting the company with an investment in the site’s reception facilities. Pat Lamming of Watling Tyres commented: “When we decided to open in Swanley, it was an obvious next step to sign this site up to the First Stop network. Being part of First Stop enables tyre retailers such as ourselves to remain independent, but also enjoy all of the benefits of being part of a professional retail chain.”
