Glow In The Dark F1 Tyres?

An item on the PaddockTalk website suggests that the latest thing in Formula 1 could be glow-in-the-dark tyres. Bridgestone is said to be looking into the possibility of coating the sidewalls and grooves with special, fluorescent paint.

In answer to the question “why?”, the report says that the paint will create a silver glow, helping drivers to see the cars and enabling TV viewers to identify the tyre compounds. A Bridgestone spokesperson is quoted as saying: “It doesn’t require advance testing. We’ll have to run it past the FIA of course, but we have quite a lot of freedom. It would look really cool, so it’s something we’re looking into.”
