Bridgestone and FIA Announce Joint Environmental Campaign
A collaborative effort between Bridgestone Corporation and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to reduce the environmental impact of motoring is now underway. The campaign is called “Make Cars Green”, and Bridgestone, as a global partner of the FIA, will support and promote this campaign on a worldwide basis, working with national automobile clubs to promote more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient driving behaviour.
The Make Cars Green campaign will communicate “10 points for greener motoring*” throughout the world to encourage drivers to “think green” when they drive. Bridgestone will announce specific details of its programmes in June, 2008, however the fundamental 10 points are as follows:
– Buy Green
– Plan your journey
– Check tyre pressures frequently
– Reduce loads and avoid the need for
roof racks
– Don’t warm up your engine before
starting off
– Use air conditioning only when
necessary
– Accelerate gently and keep your
speed constant
– Use engine braking
– Don’t idle your engine
– Offset your CO2 emissions
In announcing its campaign partnership with the FIA, Bridgestone has described environmental preservation as “one of the most critical issues of our time,” and commented that, as a group, it will expand and enhance its efforts to help preserve a safe environment for future generations. “This collaboration with the FIA is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the global reach of Bridgestone’s environmental initiative,” added Bridgestone.
