Snap-on Tools Updates Franchisee Vans
Snap-on Tools has unveiled a new design for its 420 UK Franchisee vans. According to the company, the update is aimed at giving its trade customers “a better shopping experience.” Terry Barcham, Managing Director of Snap-on, approached several contract hire and leasing specialists to come up with a new design concept for the very successful Snap-on Franchisee vans which would transform them into hi-tech sales outlets. The winning proposal came from Pendragon Contracts, part of Pendragon plc, the largest multi-franchise motor group in Europe.
Terry explains: “After utilising similar van formats for years, Pendragon were able to convince us that we could definitely provide ‘a better shopping experience’ for out trade customers. The Iveco and the internal fit-out which they have been able to achieve is testament to the determination of Pendragon and its team to achieve a genuine mobile store environment.
Andy Barrell, Pendragon Contracts Head of National Accounts, says: “Snap-on Tools Franchisee vans are recognised as one of the most productive retail spaces – per sq ft – in the world and we are delighted to win this contract for such a well-known and respected brand.
“We have provided Snap-on with a unique solution. We are recycling existing vehicles, storing them and refitting them. These vans are £60,000 Ivecos, the only vehicle that can carry Snap-on’s 5.5 tonnes of materials. We came up with the solution after approaching a body-building company to design and build the vans to specification on a particular budget. We have already supplied 175 re-fitted vans and subsequent orders from Snap-on franchisees demonstrate the success of this impressive vehicle.”
