OTR’s TotalTyreLogic Proving Popular in Scotland
Quarrying TotalTyreLogic, OTR Tyre’s ‘cradle to grave’ earthmover tyre management system, is said to be making a big impact in Scotland’s quarrying industry, and is already in use in more than 30 quarries there. The company reports that major quarrying groups are appreciating the ‘total’ service offered from OTR – from sourcing and supply of tyres through retreading to disposal and replacement.
TotalTyreLogic tracks, monitors and manages the condition of tyres, encompassing site surveys and detailed recommendations of operational practices, to aid budgeting and give visible asset management. Tyre data is correlated by OTR’s Tyre Service Engineers through on-site visits and recorded into hand held organisers before being downloaded directly to bespoke software for interpretation and analysis. The centralised database software then collates the information, which includes tyre manufacturer, tyre type, tread pattern plus wear and repair details, for each OTR customer.
The advantage, says OTR Tyres, is that customers can see and monitor how their tyres are performing on individual machines in specific locations and implement changes as necessary. OTR’s commercial director Graeme Manning said “TotalTyreLogic not only gives earthmover tyre users up-to-date records of all their tyres but provides them with a cost effective form of tyre management – ensuring correct tyre supply, monitoring tyre wear and repairing and retreading when necessary.”
OTR boast one of the largest fleets of specialist tyre fitting vehicles in Europe, providing a 24/7 support service, with each vehicle fitted with state of the art fitting equipment to reduce downtime on site. “We have seen a number of our larger quarry customers (including Enstone Thistle and Barrs) benefit from the TotalTyreLogic management service by giving responsibility for their earthmover vehicle tyres to OTR,” commented OTR regional sales manager Alan Ward.
OTR has seven ‘Regional Service Centres’, equipped for most major tyre repairs, and nine ‘Service Operating Sites’ strategically positioned throughout the UK. The company adds that health and safety and training is a priority at OTR, and all tyre service engineers are fully qualified and experienced and continually assessed.
