A Suzuki Jimny had arrived at Swindon’s Pebley Beach Suzuki after baffling numerous tyre outlets with a reoccurring problem. The Jimny, at first glance, appeared to be suffering from anything more than an incorrectly balanced from wheel. Yet no standard procedure successfully returned the balance to zero. It indeed looked as if it would take nothing less than the balancing world’s equivalent of a caped crime fighter to stop this Jimny from jumping.

As luck would have it, Pebley Beach Suzuki service manager Graeme Thomson knew of such a character, and a short phone call secured the services – and the more than four decade’s experience – of one of world’s leading authorities on wheel balancing technology. The Haweka UK technician wasted no time identifying a variety of procedural errors that had led to errors during previous balancing attempts. After treating the Jimny to the Gold balancing procedure – the same, comments Haweka, that is used during the factory build process – the Haweka UK technician identified the mounting of the wheel as the problem area and utilised the Haweka adapters, spacers and cones in the Haweka product range to rectify this problem. After two hours work the wheel was perfectly balanced and Mr. Thomson had a satisfied customer.

Graeme Thomson said, “This situation showed the importance of physically mounting the wheel correctly by using the correct accessories to mount the wheel onto the balancing machine. I have written to the manufacturers to notify them of this problem and also tell them of the speed and accuracy of the solution provided by Haweka UK.”
