Goodyear UK Partners with Casing Operations
Goodyear Dunlop UK has appointed two strategic partners for the collection of casings within the UK. The news comes as a direct result of the ongoing Complete Casings Control project which has the primary objective ensuring the company has a casings operation that is aligned to the needs of both external and internal customers whilst being “efficient, transparent and robust.” Goodyear describes the move as being part of the evolution of a “World Class Casings Operation.”
“The appointed collectors are well respected within the industry having a wealth of knowledge and experience within the casings arena. Through their tender submissions they have shown a clear commitment to an ongoing long term relationship which reinforces their alignment to both the current needs of the operation and a firm foundation to ensure continued delivery of both customer and operational excellence,” Goodyear Dunlop stated in an official release on the subject. TRS will retain the North. Statham Tyres will retain the Midlands as well as securing the South. The transfer of services for South from the existing collector to Stathams will commence on 5 February 2008.
Delivery of the tender process was as a result of a highly productive partnership between Goodyear Dunlop and RubberNetwork (RNC). RNC is the first and largest tyre and rubber industry strategic sourcing consortium.
“Through these appointments we are firmly committed to the delivery of a World Class Casings operation which embraces our sales team’s Cradle to Grave commercial vehicle tyre philosophy. It’s adoption is critical not only in reassuring customers that their assets and associated values are managed at the end of the products service life but also in ensuring the on going supply of raw material in the form of casings to our NextTread manufacturing plant. The implementation of a new core business process, the Casings Return Note supported by changes to the casings organisation structure and the delivery of a competitive tender process ensure that we have a World Class Casings operation” stated Mike Rees, Project Sponsor.
“Goodyear Dunlop has the most comprehensive truck tyre supporting infrastructure in the European tyre industry. A World Class Casings operation, which is aligned to the needs of our full-service truck tyre offer including TruckForce and Next Tread, is vital for our successful growth in the commercial vehicle tyre market,” he added.
