Going Wireless with Tyre Shredders UK
Northamptonshire based shredding specialists Tyre Shredders UK Limited (TSUK), a subsidiary of the Systems4Recycling Group, has a recycling ace up its sleeve – the company offers what it reports to be the only true single pass shredding system capable of removing virtually all tyre wire, creating 20mm rubber chip from whole passenger car and 4×4 tyres.
Two shredding systems are available from TSUK – the TS50 and the TS100 series. Both of these single pass machines deliver the pure 20mm rubber chip (TSUK reports that clean steel wire is removed from the tyre with only 5 to 9 per cent rubber contamination) that is frequently sought after by manufacturers of numerous rubber products, such as playground safety systems, equestrian surfaces and garden products.
Both machines operate according to the same principles, the key difference between them being processing capacity: The four-rotor shredder TS50 permits an output of 500 kilograms an hour, while the TS100, with each of its four rotors operating from independently driven shafts, offers double this capacity. Both the TS50 and TS100 are fitted with a water spray bar that doses water into the hopper, thereby improving product quality and productivity. Wire removal, a key feature of the machines, occurs following the shredding process by way of neodym rare earth drum magnets.
For operators wishing to have more than one machine in action, TS Twin and Triple lines provide a solution, offering the flexibility of running more than one TS machine side by side with a bi-directional distribution feed conveyor system.
The TSUK product portfolio also includes a wide range of TP and TQ twin and four rotor pre-shedders that provide a throughput rate of up to 25 tonnes per hour. The machines can also offer rough shredding in conjunction with the TS50 and TS100 systems; when these units operate in a coordinated fashion output can be boosted by up to 30 per cent. Furthermore, the four rotor shredders will not only pre-shred tyres; they can also be fitted with screens to pre-size for tyre derived fuel.
Installations of TSUK shredding equipment have recently taken place in Northern Ireland and Shropshire, and managing director, Keith Oldershaw comments that “TSUK is a very important part of the S4R trading operation, and as more and more companies come to realise the full potential of our tyre shredding equipment, we will continue to expand our services to meet that demand.”
Companies not wishing to purchase equipment outright have lease options on all TSUK machinery available to them, and the company states that prices begin at £625 per week for a five-year term. As sales manager Andy Day explains, “the leasing service is a further sales alternative for our customers that involves no large deposits or balloon payments and service contracts can be built into the price if required for long term peace of mind.”
Recently additional new premises were acquired in Corby for the purpose of expanding the company’s UK stockholding of spare parts and consumables for all equipment. A new project engineer, Dave Austin, has also joined the group, and will assist with project management activities, including those related to TSUK shredding equipment.
