ATSE Wins Castle Morpeth Council Contract
Castle Morpeth Council has awarded a contract to supply tyres and associated services across its 148-strong fleet to ATS Euromaster, as part of a framework agreement created by the North Eastern Purchasing Organisation (NEPO). The 2+2 year deal covers a diverse mix of vehicles including the Mayoral car, vans, dropsides, road sweepers, other items of plant and a fleet of more than 14 refuse collection and recycling vehicles. As part of the new contract, ATS Euromaster is also fitting the refuse fleet with Taurus tyres, manufactured by Michelin.
“Through the NEPO framework agreement, ATS Euromaster offers us best value across every aspect of our operation, which is a difficult task when you are managing such a diverse fleet,” says Brian Jones, Castle Morpeth Council’s Transport and Environmental Waste Manager. “The new Taurus tyres have already made an impact to our operation, reducing the amount of tyre replacements we have traditionally experienced. They are ideal for fitment across our refuse trucks, which are used for kerbside collections and driving onto land-fill sites – two applications notorious for high wear & damage. What’s more, unlike other budget tyres on the market they have the benefit of being manufactured by Michelin,” he adds.
Other key factors in winning the contract were ATS Euromaster’s ability to meet NEPO’s demanding environmental and health & safety requirements, together with offering economical rates for disposal of tyres in accordance with industry regulations. ATS Euromaster was selected by NEPO as a preferred supplier of tyre services to local authorities in the North East region in 2006. The agreement covers an area stretching from the Scottish borders through to Tyneside, Wearside, County Durham and Teesside.
