Pirelli Prepares for Significant Presence at Bologna Motor Show
The Bologna Motor Show begins on December 7 and Pirelli intends to be at the heart of the action. Rubber produced by the Italian tyremaker will be on track at all the most significant races that form part of the Motor Show programme.
The 32nd Bologna show gets underway with the Pirelli Champions Cup, which this year is being run for the second time. Pirelli will adopt the tried and trusted and formula used last year, pitting racing and motorbike stars in competition to decide who will earn the title of “Pirelli Champion of Champions.” These drivers will go against each other in racing cars – the Maserati GranSport Trofeo – as well as Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IXs prepared by Mauro Rally Tuning.
Pirelli tyres will also be protagonists in other races on the programme, including the Ferrari Challenge, the Boomb Boogie GT Challenge (using cars from the Italian GT Championship) and the Trofeo Superstars, with Audi RS4 and BMW M5 and 550i saloon cars running on PZero Racing rubber. Historic racing cars will be represented by the Pirelli Historic Challenge and the Emilio Lanzoni Memorial Pirelli Historic Parade. Rally action comes in the form of the Mitsubishi Evo Cup and Colt Cup, the Trofeo GT Rally, the Super 1600 Challenge and the Trofeo WRC Italia.
A major drawcard at Bologna is the Pirelli Historic Rally Show, featuring classic rally cars from the 1970s and 1980s. Another star attraction will be the Barclaycard Coppa Dante Salvay, and the major event promises to be the Bettega Memorial Rallysprint.
Pirelli PZero tyres will be present on the Motor Show’s many stands as well, where they will equip the leading supercars on display. Amongst the supercars that will showcase the event are the Lamborghini Reventòn, Bentley Brooklands and Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S.
