New Pirelli Deal to Benefit Romanian UHP Tyre Plant Town
It is nine months since Pirelli opened its UHP tyre manufacturing facility in the Romanian town of Slatina, and the Italian company’s commitment to the community has been reflected in a program of social initiatives. The latest of these is the signing of an agreement on December 10 between the tyremaker and Niguarda Cà Granda Hospital of Milan and the Hospital of Slatina to provide for the continuing education of Romanian medical and nursing personnel at the Milan hospital. In addition, Pirelli will donate modern hospital equipment to the Slatina hospital for diagnostics and emergency surgery.
The professional training program will begin in January 2008 and over the next three years will involve approximately 70 doctors and nurses from the Romanian hospital, who will participate in theoretical and practical courses in the areas of emergency medical care, emergency surgery, intensive care, reanimation, emergency gynaecology and hospital epidemiology at Niguarda Hospital. During the training period, hospital managers from Niguarda will go to Slatina to supervise the implementation of new technologies and procedures in the emergency room and emergency care department. Over the course of the project Pirelli will donate a contribution of about 500 thousand euros.
