Kirkby Secures ‘Giant’ OE Deal
Kirkby Tyres & Wheels has secured a large scale OE contract to supply to OTR tyres to a particularly UK-based manufacturer. The deal will see the Liverpool-based wholesaler counter EM tyre shortage issues by supplying between 5000 and 7000 tyres a year, including certain ‘giant’ sizes. Speaking to Tyres & Accessories after giving a company statement on the Michelin/Double Coin dispute, Kirkby managing director, Dave Dorrity, said the agreement would be a “multi-million pound” contract.
On the subject of the recent dispute between Kirkby Tyres & Wheels and Michelin concerning certain patterns of the Double Coin truck range, Kirkby has announced that the dispute has now been settled and that some Double Coin patterns have been modified with Michelins approval. Alternative patterns have now been developed and produced to replace the disputed patterns over the last few months.
Dave Dorrity, Kirkby’s Managing Director stated: “A number of patterns in our Double Coin range have been manufactured to a slightly different design all of which have been well accepted by our customers. The Double Coin product continues to grow from strength to strength and accounts for the ever increasing customer demand that we are experiencing.
