NETE Takes the Exhaustion out of Custom Exhausts
North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts recently announced its intention to make further inroads into the retail market, and steps towards this goal have been made through a number of investments, including upgrading of its outlets and the construction of a ninth premises in Harrogate/Knaresborough, which is nearing completion. Now the Middlesbrough based business has invested into the exhaust side of its operations in North Yorkshire with the addition of a piece of equipment that is proving a drawcard for the region’s car enthusiasts.
The company’s Brotton outlet has become the recipient of a specialist exhaust-bending machine that allows NETE to produce any style of exhaust for any type of car. The machine, which cost in excess of £20,000, utilises the latest in exhaust customising technology to come from the US and, reports the manager of NETE’s Brotton outlet, Tony Darcy, it is attracting a wide variety of drivers from right across the region.
“We brought this system in as we knew there was a market for it,” commented Darcy. “But even we have been surprised at some of the diversity of the customers who have heard that we can make just about any style of exhaust for their cars…Word has quickly spread among the younger generation of so called ‘pimped’ cars where bigger or unique exhausts are all part of the appearance of their modified vehicles. Some of the requests are incredible, but the investment in the new equipment means we can produce an exhaust system to just about any specification.”
But it’s not just those in the customising scene that are taking advantage of the Brotton outlet’s new addition, and Darcy says there are just as many owners of vintage and foreign cars who are taking advantage of the service, as original equipment replacement exhausts for their vehicles prove either difficult or expensive to come by.
Word has spread fast; Tony Darcy has witnessed vehicle enthusiasts converging upon Brotton’s high street from all over the North East. NETE adds that the company has specially trained technicians and welders on-site at Brotton to be able to deal with customer requests and offer the best advice and consultations on the type of new exhaust that might be required. The machinery can cater for more than 100 different styles of grade three or four stainless steel exhausts at a fraction of the price motorists might expect to pay for an original equipment replacement, and most jobs can be done within half a day.
