Marangoni Tread Granted EMAS Certification
Marangoni Tread SpA has announced that its manufacturing sites in Ferentino and Frosinone have been granted EMAS certification (certificate no. IT-000709). These production sites already possess ISO 9001:2000 quality certification and ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification.
EMAS stands for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, and is a European standard that promotes the voluntary adoption of an environmental management system (EMS) that goes well beyond ISO 14001, as the participating organisations must guarantee a certain level of efficiency, transparency and credibility. The system in fact requires the results of the organisation’s environmental performance to be published externally. Voluntary enlisting in the EMAS register allows organisations to assess and improve their environmental performance, to provide appropriate information and create a relationship of trust with industry and the public.
Marangoni Tread claims that the achievement of EMAS certification confirms its ongoing awareness of and attention to environmental issues –its maximum commitment to promoting a culture of “quality”. Choosing a retreaded tyre, adds Marangoni, means respecting the environment: retreading not only helps reduce environmental pollution, but guarantees enormous savings in natural resources and energy.
