Lombard Drivers Switch to Vredestein from C-Tyres
Drivers in today’s Lombard Rally have been given the option to switch to Vredestein following C-Tyre’s entrance into administration. Yesterday Kenny Owen, clerk of the course at Lombard Rally, said: “We’ve been working tirelessly for two weeks to try to resolve the situation and we’ve managed to get most of the competitors to run on Colways. We’ve found suppliers all over the place…”
However, later statements on the official Lombard Rally website reveal that race officials had to call in a second control tyre: “We have arranged supplies of an alternative control tyre from Vredestein to be available at the start and on route. The Vredestein control tyre may be used in addition to the your existing Colways.”
At the end of yesterday it was estimated that around 90 per cent of drivers successfully managed to source Colway Tyres. Race organisers have earlier made an unorthodox appeal for spare Colway products: “Those of you that may have a supply hidden under the kitchen table…or you may not be doing the event this year so can relinquish your hold…or your grannie has gone on hols to Ibiza or Butlins and we can borrow hers for a few days, please let us know? We are looking for the following sizes – 10″ 13″ 14″ 15″
Meanwhile, Sunderland debt recovery specialist Tenon have not given up hope of finding a suitor, with a number of investors said to be circling the firm. On 3 November Steve Ross, director of corporate recovery at Tenon, said he was still in negotiations with the landlord but remained optimistic a buyer could be found.
