Overview: Qingdao Doublestar Tire Industrial

The Qingdao Doublestar Tire Industrial Co., Ltd., which is based in Qingdao (Shandong province), is one of several Chinese tyre manufacturers undergoing strong expansion. The company was founded in 1996 and belongs to the Double Star group that mainly produces the Doublestar brand, but also a secondary brand called Huaqing.

Last year the group’s tyre division generated a turnover of about 680 million euros, according to the chairman of the board Li Tongqin. In the same publication the chairman of the state-owned company announced further steps to increase tyre production. According to the plan Qingdao Doublestar will benefit from its good OE customer contacts in this respect – customers that are not only based in China. Qingdao Doublestar, for example has “a successful cooperation” with the Shifeng group from China, one of the biggest producers of agricultural machines and vehicles. The commercial tyre manufacturer sells tyres in more than 70 countries; however, Europe is not yet at the centre of Doublestar’s export business. As the manufacturer published in a report, it produces about 1.5 million radial truck tyres, 2 million bias-ply truck tyres, additional 2 million agricultural tyres and also 4 million tubes per annum.
