Recycling Firm Trials With ATSE
Warrington-based European Metal Recycling is trialling a new tyre contract with ATS Euromaster, based on the company’s ability to provide extensive management information to help reduce expenditure on tyres. The trial involves approximately 70 vehicles and 50 trailers operating from a metal recycling facility in Salford, and marks the first step in moving towards a company-wide tyre policy for its 300-strong commercial vehicle fleet.
Simon Wood, Divisional Director at European Metal Recycling, says: “Our fleet is very hard on tyres as we’re operating in an environment where it is all too easy to run over a piece of scrap metal, causing damage.”
Until now the company has fitted budget tyres which are supplied by a range of independent tyre dealers across the country, selected on a local basis. The trial will see ATS Euromaster fit Michelin tyres exclusively, which are expected to prove more resilient to damage and therefore deliver a significantly longer life.
“One of the main benefits of appointing ATS Euromaster is that we will have access to regular management information, highlighting the exact performance of each tyre and enabling us to fine-tune our fitment policy.
“We will also be able to actively use this information to prove that fitting a premium product delivers a longer life on the road, and therefore greater value for money. It will also mean increased opportunities for ATS Euromaster to regroove, remould or repair the tyres, further extending tyre life and delivering greater performance from each casing,” he adds.
If the trial proves successful, European Metal Recycling will roll the joint ATS Euromaster and Michelin tyre policy out across its fleet nationwide, which comprises a mix of tractor units and trailers, hooklifts and skip-loaders.
Like all fleet customers, European Metal Recycling will also benefit from ATS Euromaster’s centralised authorisation system, which guarantees that all tyres fitted to its fleet follow the specified fitment policy. This operates across all ATS Euromaster centres nationwide, ensuring that regardless of a vehicle’s location when a new tyre is required, the correct brand and specification is fitted every time.
