Enviro-mentality Central to Kwik-Fit Winning Grosvenor Leasing Deal
A significant environmental focus contributed to Kwik-Fit Fleet winning a new contract to supply a range of fast-fit services to Grosvenor Contracts Leasing. The new preferred supplier agreement builds on a business partnership between the two organisations stretching back almost 25 years and will run until December 31, 2008. Kettering-based Grosvenor Contracts Leasing is the UK’s largest independent contract hire and fleet management provider with 8,500 cars and light commercials on its books. The company has recently achieved ISO14001 accreditation – the international environmental management standard.
Fleet customers will be directed to use Kwik-Fit Fleet for all their tyre requirements as well as other fast-fit services and recently launched initiatives such as MoTs and air conditioning recharging. The new arrangements also see Michelin becoming the tyre supplier of choice for Grosvenor Contracts Leasing customers.
Andy Reed, commercial director of Grosvenor Contracts Leasing, said: “As an industry we must do whatever we can to reduce the impact of the motor vehicle on the environment. It is very doubtful that, as a nation, we will give-up our cars and vans – so it is essential that we encourage our clients to adopt and maintain eco-friendly policies to minimise their carbon footprints. Using quality tyres that do not need replacing as regularly as cheaper versions and by employing a partner that is also dedicated to conserving resources and recycling, means that we are making moves towards greener fleet management. Kwik-Fit Fleet has consistently provided a high standard of service and we look forward to working with the company in the future.”
Kwik-Fit Fleet sales director Mike Wise said: “As an environmentally responsible organisation, Kwik-Fit has been at the forefront of ensuring that tyres collected from our centres are reprocessed and not sent to landfill sites. Kwik-Fit technicians remove five million tyres from vehicles annually and for the last five years less than 1 per cent of those tyres have gone to landfill. Instead they have been recycled either as crumb rubber to be used for a number of surfaces such as children’s playground and running tracks as well as carpet underlay. Recycled tyres can also be used for road surfaces or used as a source of energy.
“Most companies are becoming increasingly conscious of environmental issues and understandably expect their supplier partners to also have a ‘green’ agenda.”
Grosvenor Contracts Leasing customers will have access to Kwik-Fit’s nationwide network of 670 centres and 200-strong mobile fleet and Mr Wise added: “It was one of the most competitive tenders we have been involved in so we are delighted to further extend our business partnership with the company.”
