New Tyre Cord Factory Earmarked for Vietnam
The company began manufacturing nylon tyre cord in South Korea in 1968 and branched into polyester tyre cord production a decade later. Today Hyosung uses a range of technologies in its tyre cord production, including Lyocell, an environmentally friendly substitute to nylon or rayon cord. According to Hyosung the company played a pioneering role in the development of this substance as a viable tyre cord material. Tyres incorporating Lyocell will soon be commercially available- last December Kumho announced the upcoming release of its first Lyocell tyres, destined for the European market in 2007 and claimed to be the first of their type available worldwide.
