Where there’s a Will there’s a Waymaster
Recently, Vintage Tyre Supplies celebrated the 10th anniversary of the company’s Waymaster private brand. So what? I hear you say. Just about every wholesaler has their own brand nowadays. But before you follow that trail of thought through, the Waymaster range is a little different and VTS isn’t your average wholesaler. To begin with, VTS only deals in vintage and classic tyres for cars and motorcycles, and we’re not just talking about 80 series radials like so many “classic” dealers. The VTS range goes back way further than this.
If you consider the changes that have taken place in the tyre industry over the last 10 years, you can multiply that by 10, because the VTS range starts around 1900, and that’s where the Waymaster range begins.
“Responding to market demands is part of being a total quality supplier” says Chris Marchant, managing director of Vintage Tyre Supplies, “That’s why we took an unprecedented decision to develop our own brand of “vintage” tyre. These were not to be rebadged or copies of old tyres as others may have done, but a completely new design using everything modern technology could offer to improve performance and make them last longer, all wrapped up in a period package at an affordable price. We were also aware of the cost implications and had to accept that range development would be on-going”.
Waymaster products are split into three main groups; conventional crossply tyres covering the 1930’s and 40’s, currently starting with 400-15 up to 500-19. Waymaster Cord (beaded edge) tyres for the earlier 1910’s and 20’s cars, and lastly Waymaster Tubes and rim bands, and here the range includes a comprehensive line of Vintage Racing inner tubes complete with metal valves, heavy duty road tubes with a reinforced base and lastly conventional budget tubes in popular vintage and classic sizes. But, in line with our policy to provide quality specialist tyres at competitive prices, the range will continue to expand.
