Tyreweb Opens New 20,000 sq ft Warehouse
As Tyreweb approaches its 30th year in business, company founders Karl and Susan Webber are celebrating their business’ expansion into a new 20,000 square foot warehouse. But what triggered the company’s recent success?
“Over the years, Tyreweb found on many occasions it was impossible to source tyres that were required the same day that were non stock tyres, being aware that other companies would be in the same position, we put a van on the road to offer two deliveries a day to customers a little further afield,” the Webbers told Tyres & Accesssories.
This grew very quickly requiring Tyreweb to take additional warehouse space and in 2004 Tim Freeman joined the company as Trade Sales Manager to help grow the business. Now seven vans service the whole of Kent – including part of Surrey and Sussex offering two deliveries to most customers, which includes most dealerships, tyre shops, garages and anyone who fits their own tyres.
Karl and Susan Webber founded Tyreweb in 1978, with their son Mark joining the company in 1996. Tyreweb operates three retail depots in Kent (two in Ashford and one in Folkestone), serving both consumers and local dealerships. General Manager, Tony Read – a loyal employee for 24 years – runs the retail side of the business.
The company built its head office in Orbital Park, Ashford in 2000. They claim it is one of the most modern tyre and exhaust centres in Kent, offering computerised four wheel laser alignment, MOTs, brakes and exhausts.
The new warehouse facilities give the company the ability to grow the business without having to move again. The new site means stocks of up to 20,000 units including vehicle specific tyres, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW are available. Tyreweb also offers a mail order service to those too far away to benefit from the delivery service. The sales team apparently do not know the meaning of ‘no’ – the policy being always to find tyres, however oddball!
