This Side of Eden
Cars on the equivalent real-life grid are capable of producing a staggering 4,000-plus BHP between them. Yet budding Jenson Buttons can experience all the thrills and spills of a competitive F1 race at the Eden Project this month (April), using only pedal power to fire them to victory!
An unusual attraction at the Bodelva attraction enables teams of two to go head-to-head on a demanding six-lane slot car circuit. One person pedals furiously on a specially-rigged exercise bike to provide power, while the other uses a controller to guide their car towards the chequered flag and hopefully a place on the podium.
St Austell-based First Stop dealership Steve Andrews Tyres has teamed up with network partner Bridgestone UK to sponsor the Racing Green exhibit, which is the centrepiece of a new show promoting environmentally-friendly automotive technology.
The Sexy Green Car Show runs until 15 April, with visitors also able to view the latest developments in bio-fuels and recyclable car materials.
Steve Andrews said: “The Racing Green exhibit works the mind and the body, because as well as concentrating as on keeping your car on the track, riding the bike is a great way to burn a few calories.” Other features at the Steve Andrews Tyres and Bridgestone-sponsored exhibit include exclusive Formula One memorabilia and merchandise. Steve is also distributing notepads with covers made from recycled tyres.
