Goodyear Belt Meets Metric Demand
To meet increasing demand for metric industrial replacement parts, Goodyear Engineered Products has introduced a line of metric power transmission v-belts that takes the static zap out of manufacturing operations.
Much of this increased output will go towards meeting the requirements of North America plants, more of which are today using overseas built industrial equipment requiring v-belts that adhere to metric standard unit measurements, according to Michael Lyons, Goodyear marketing manager for industrial power transmission products.
With the metric system still a foreign concept to many in the US the metric requirement can, according to Lyons, complicate scheduled maintenance and turn unscheduled repairs into costly downtime. “Goodyear GY Metric belts are produced in North America, making them readily available for maintenance and repair operations,” he said. “The belts also incorporate a rubber compound that dissipates static electrical charge buildups.”
To meet the requirements of hugely varying operating conditions such as deep-freeze refrigeration or metal casting operations, the belts can operate in temperatures ranging from -65 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Available in more than 300 sizes, the belts are made to ISO standard metric profiles.
