Vredestein Ships One Millionth Space Master
(Akron/Tire Review) One million is a lot of anything. For Vredestein Banden, it represents a major milestone for its Space Master spare tyre. The unit of Amtel-Vredestein recently shipped its one millionth Space Master, this one to Audi for its Audi A6 All Road.
Vredestein has been producing the Space Master since 2002, and says worldwide growth of SUVs and 4×4 vehicles helped boost its output. “The specific product characteristics of the Space Master fulfill customers’ wishes outstandingly, especially in view of the large number of SUV and 4WD models that will be introduced during the coming years,” said Michiel Kramer, Vredestein’s U.S. market development manager. “Many manufacturers have made a clear choice for the Space Master and the high quality and level of service offered by Vredestein.”
Unlike traditional mini-spares, Vredestein’s Space Master matches the space savings of the temporary spare with the utility of a full-size spare, the company said. Compared to conventional spares, Vredestein said, the Space Master – which is inflated only when needed, using a companion compressor – provides a volume savings up to 60% and a weight savings up to 35%.
