UK, US Tyre RFID Firms Sign Agreement
UK based supplier of tyre industry electronic data capture technology Pneu-Logic Ltd has entered into a joint technology development and marketing agreement with American UHF tag reading technology supplier Advanced ID Corporation. The agreement will lead to an integration of the two company’s tyre identification and inspection technologies, and it is hoped their combined effort will provide the tyre industry with the first commercially available fully mobile means of delivering unique tyre identification and inspection to business systems in real time.
A March 2007 debut for Advance ID hand-held UHF tag readers used in conjunction with Pneu-Logic fleet inspection tools is anticipated. Pneu-Logic has tested the Advanced ID reader extensively and is reportedly pleased with its performance. Pneu-Logic’s managing director, Laren Yeomans, stated “Our organisations’ partnership will ensure a common solution for Fleet owners and tyre manufacturers globally for UHF tag and fleet inspection technologies. The potential growth in this marketplace for such a solution is tremendous and 2007 will see the roll out of the first phase of our joint organizational UHF tag and fleet inspection system called ‘Fast-Check’.”
Dan Finch, president and CEO of Advanced ID, has also expressed his confidence in the agreement. “Working with Pneu-Logic has shown us that our UHF-RFID solution for the tyre industry in conjunction with Pneu-Logic will provide a complete, cost-effective solution that the tire management industry will embrace,” he said. “We expect 2007 to be the year when RFID tyre management replaces the bar code as the industry’s long-term tyre ID product. Moving forward, our partnership will provide the capability to sell our integrated solution throughout the world.”
Mr. Finch added, in light of feedback received from existing and potential customers, that he estimates the partnership will sell approximately 500 RFID readers and 1,000,000 tags or patches during the first twelve months.
