RMA Honors 61 With SHIP Awards
(Akron/Tire Review) The RMA honored 61 tyre and rubber manufacturing plants for their improvements in worker health and safety. The annual SHIP (safety and Health Improvement Program) awards were presented during RMA’s recent annual meeting in Tucson, Ariz.
“Our industry is serious about worker safety issues,” said RMA President and CEO Don Shea. “The SHIP awards are recognition of superb achievement in worker safety, and facilities who qualify for this ought to be quite proud of the accomplishment.”
SHIP Awards include two categories: “Excellence” for facilities that achieve an incidence rate that is 75 per cent better than the average achieved by plants that provided data to RMA, and “Improvement” for plants with an incidence rate that is both 10 per cent better than its prior year rate and the same or better RMA’s average incidence rate.
