Michelin Launches New 315/60 R22.5 X Energy XF
Michelin has launched the first steer axle truck tyre in its range to feature InfiniCoil architecture, one of the key innovations of Michelin Durable Technologies. The 315/60 R 22.5 Michelin X Energy XF is available as original equipment in Europe and will be exhibited on Michelin’s stand at the Commercial Vehicle Show. With a load carrying capacity of 7.5 tonnes (the same as a 315/70 R 22.5), this new tyre responds to the demand from vehicle manufacturers seeking tyres that increase the steer axle’s load-carrying capacity.
The 315/60 R 22.5 tyre is typically used by car transporter fleets which must deal with major load constraints, in an industry where the increase in larger vehicles, such as luxury 4×4 models, have made it all too easy to overload the front axle. Thanks to the innovative, patented InfiniCoil architecture that is part of Michelin Durable Technologies, the 315/60 R 22.5 Michelin X Energy XF is more robust than its predecessor. Each steer axle’s load-carrying capacity has been increased by 400 kilograms and the new architecture enhances durability, even when carrying heavier loads.
In addition, like other tyres in the Energy range, it helps to reduce fuel consumption with a rolling resistance that is approximately seven per cent lower than that of the 315/60 R 22.5 XZA2 Energy. It also offers a five per cent improvement in grip compared to the tyre it replaces, due to an improved and more uniform footprint.
To tyre is regroovable and retreadable via the Michelin Remix process.
