Hankook Aiming for 100,000,000 Tyres a Year
With Hankook’s 105,000 square metre production facility in Hungary complete and ready to commence production, the Korean tyremaker is already looking ahead to the day when its global production will reach 100 million tyres a year.
According to Hankook Tire’s vice president Cho Hyun-bum, the company will achieve this goal via two principal means. Production at the Hungary plant will increase over the next few years, with the second phase of the facility’s construction scheduled to begin in the second half of 2008. When this 53,000 square metre addition is completed in 2010 the plant will contribute 10 million tyres to Hankook’s global annual production.
Mr. Cho also indicated that Hankook is considering undertaking the construction of a plant in India within the next five years. At present no specific details are available regarding the size or location of this proposed facility.
