Goodyear – a Highly Admired US Company
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has been identified by Fortune magazine as one of America’s most admired companies. Goodyear was the highest-ranked tyre company and ranked No. 2 overall in the motor vehicle parts category of Fortune’s America’s Most Admired Companies, up three places from its 2006 ranking.
Commenting on Fortune’s recognition of the high esteem the company holds, Goodyear’s chairman and CEO Robert J. Keegan said “This recognition, and the steady improvement in our ranking, is a demonstration of the outstanding work Goodyear associates have done the past four years to drive dramatic change and rebuild our company. It validates our efforts in all aspects of performance and is particularly gratifying as it represents recognition from our peers.”
Since its inception in 1983 the Fortune Most Admired list has held increasing weight in corporate America, and today is considered a highly reliable gauge of corporate reputation. Each year’s results are based on an assessment of more than 3,000 executives, board directors and securities analysts, who determine a company’s overall reputation through such measures as innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and quality of products and services.
The full list of most admired companies and related stories will be published in the March 19 issue of Fortune, and will also be available online at the magazine’s website.
