Bridgestone a Contender for India OE Deal

Bridgestone India is in discussions with Toyota regarding the possibility of supplying OE tyres to its upcoming Indian market small car. According to Hisao Ikawa, Bridgestone India’s managing director, the Madhya Pradesh based tyremaker is “most likely to bag the order for supplying radials to Toyota’s proposed small car, which should roll out in 2009-10.”

The small Toyota, to be produced at the company’s proposed new plant in Bangalore, would be priced at about £3,500, the lowest price for any Toyota car sold in India.

Toyota officials are scheduled to visit Bridgestone’s facility to evaluate the plant’s demand-supply feasibility.” Sources state that other Indian tyre manufacturers are also expected to submit their bids for the project.
