Swansea First Stop Dealership Renews Charity Pledge
A Swansea First Stop dealership is renewing its support for a campaign raising vital funds for impoverished and neglected youngsters in South Wales. It is the third year running that Harris Brothers Tyres will be the headline sponsor of radio stations ’The Wave’ and ‘Swansea Sound’s’ Cash for Kids initiative. Last year alone the business worked with the stations to help raise more than £30,000 for good causes. That included a £10,000 donation to Childline following a glitzy ball and auction where Esther Rantzen was the special guest of honour.
“Cash for Kids is a brilliant initiative that does so much for sick and disadvantaged youngsters across Swansea and South Wales – children who rarely enjoy a second chance,” said Derek Phillipart, co-director of Harris Brothers Tyres alongside wife Alison and business partners Leighton and Jayne Walker. “It’s a cause that’s extremely close to our hearts, and we’re proud to renew our support for the campaign for another 12 months. 2006 was a fantastic year for fundraising and we’re looking for an even greater push in 2007.”
Harris Brothers Tyres has three depots in Swansea plus a fourth outlet in Haverfordwest. Employees from all four dealerships regularly support Cash for Kids events, pledging their time and money to get into the fundraising spirit.
The company also support from Bridgestone UK in its charity work, which gives Harris Brothers access to a range of exclusive motorsport prizes that can be auctioned off at Cash for Kids events, including F1 factory trips and signed podium caps.
Neil Cleaver, business development manager for Bridgestone UK, commented: “We encourage all of our First Stop dealers to take a proactive role in supporting their local community. Not only does this help raise the profile of their respective business, but in backing initiatives like Cash for Kids they get the added personal satisfaction of knowing they are playing a hands-on role in helping out.”
