Sibur-Russian Establishes Tyremakers’ Union
Sibur-Russian Tyres has instigated the formation of a subcommittee, subordinate to the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s committee on entrepreneurship in the automotive industry, to focus upon the development of Russia’s tyre and rubber industry. The aim of this subcommittee is to facilitate the consolidation of Russian tyremakers in order to protect their interests at the governmental level.
The tyremaker believes there is a strong need for such an organization due to the highly competitive nature of Russia’s tyre industry and the increasing presence of international tyre majors. Mr. Igor Karavaev, chairman of the new Subcommittee and Sibur-Russian’s strategic development director, says: “The main task of our union is the consolidation of Russian manufacturers in order to help the modernisation of technologies and equipment and to supply (the) Russian economy with high-technology and up-to-date home-produced tyres”.
Mr. Karavaev believes that government encouragement of the tyre and rubber industry will help to develop Russia’s industrial and economic potential.
