ContiLifeCycle Offers an Independent Calculation Model
Last autumn Continental AG introduced a new program that enables fleet operators to better control and calculate the cost of commercial tyres within their fleet. This new software is available on CD-ROM and can thus be used on any computer. As it is a freestanding program, nobody needs to share information about competitor’s prices, not even with the Continental sales staff that provide the CD-ROM. The calculation model, known as ContiLifeCycle, offers several options through which tyre costs can be easily and quickly calculated and answers to a number of very important questions found, commented Eckhard Wilanek in an interview with Tyres & Accessories. Such questions include: Is retreading an option for me? What about regrooving? Or should I just have new tyres mounted?
There are many opinions regarding retreading and regrooving, and a range of solutions to the above questions depending on individual situations. All these questions obviously have a direct impact on the economic performance of any fleet, and very few answers are always right. Now decision makers responsible for a fleet can utilise this new tool from Continental to directly find a suitable answer according to their own individual needs. The ContiLifeCycle calculation model is directed at meeting these individual needs without requiring an excessive amount of input and it works according to a neutral comparison basis, adds the managing director fleet & retread business from Continental’s truck tyre division. The German tyre manufacturer does not even shy away from providing direct comparison with competing products – new or retreaded – some of which may even be more competitive than Conti’s own products. “Our customer is our most valuable asset. This is why we have the courage to even call our own products into question.”
The tyre manufacturer’s calculation model basically offers four different options that a fleet operator can chose from and validate by entering its own data on the use of its tyres or retreads:
1. just new tyres
2. new tyres and retreads
3. new tyres, regrooving, retreading, regrooving
4. new tyres and regrooving
