Conti Displays Smart Technologies
Continental Automotive Systems have shown off their smart technologies in an interactive display at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. The display exhibits the company’s efforts to integrate active and passive safety systems, wireless and other “smart” technologies that make driving safer, more comfortable and fun.
Housed in an 18-wheel tractor-trailer on the show floor, Continental’s ‘Safely There’ mobile interactive exhibit features a Disney-like ride experience, allowing visitors to experience realistic driving scenarios that highlight new crash prevention technologies found on modern vehicles. The ride features a 4-D reality movie theatre outfitted with a hydraulic motion simulator.
It highlights Continental’s Intelligent Vehicle Safety concept, which integrates electronic stability control, active rollover protection, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control technologies. The Safely There exhibit also features hands-on kiosks, where consumers can test their knowledge and learn more about active safety equipment available on vehicles today and in the near future that helps prevent
crashes, reduce injuries and save lives.
In addition, Continental is showcasing its active-passive safety integration automobile and its wireless research and development vehicle featuring the very latest Continental Telematics technologies. These vehicles, combined with the mobile exhibit, provide visitors with a glimpse of the future of connectivity and convenience – where drivers are better connected to their vehicles, the road and fellow drivers.
“Our exhibit offers people the chance to experience intelligent vehicle technology firsthand and see how it will benefit drivers today and in the future,” said Bill Kozyra, Continental Automotive Systems, North America president and CEO. “Continental is contributing to the increasing intelligence of today’s vehicle with equipment that is increasing a car’s brainpower, making the driving experience safer and more enjoyable. Vehicle- to-vehicle communications is a key technology for us and one that is growing in importance.”
