Bridgestone Releases its First SAV Run-flat

Bridgestone has unveiled its first 4×4 run-flat for luxury sport activity vehicles (SAV). The company claims that their latest run-flat offering, the Dueler H/P Sport RFT, offers the same wet and dry handling, steering precision and comfort as the non-flat version launched at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

The new tyre has been selected as an OE fitment for the new BMW X5, with 19 and 20-inch sizes (V and W speed rated) already being shipped to the German manufacturer. In addition, 18 and 19-inch versions of the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 RFT will be fitted to certain all-season specification X5 models. The run-flat tyres feature the Dueler’s asymmetric tread pattern.

“We are delighted that BMW has chosen the Dueler H/P Sport,” said Didier Schneider, Bridgestone Europe’s vice president of original equipment. “The high-powered X5 is a benchmark in automobile engineering and state-of-the-art safety systems.” The company added that they are already supplying Potenza and Turanza run-flats across the BMW model range.
