New Penny Hydraulics Tyre Lift
The new Tyre Lift from Penny Hydraulics is a versatile platform lift for handling tyres, wheels and loads up to 250kg between ground level and a first floor or mezzanine store. Penny Hydraulics says it offers a cost-effective solution for complying with manual handling regulations and reduces the risk of injury. The entire handling process can be carried out by a single person, with no manual lifting involved.
The lift can handle three truck tyres, or 10 car or van tyres at a time, lifting loads to a height of four metres. The robust construction means it can be installed indoors or outdoors, wherever there is a standard 240V 13A mains power supply. The lifting speed is 0.5 m/sec, which means that the four metre height can be reached in eight seconds.
Safety features include a ‘hold to run’ system, which stops the lift whenever the control lever is released, plus there is overload protection.
More than one third of over-three-day injuries reported to the HSE and local authorities are related to manual handling and over one million people in the UK are affected by musculoskeletal disorders caused or made worse by their work, leading to an estimated loss of 12 million working days annually. The HSE has published rules and guidance on manual handling and the maximum weight recommended under any circumstances is now 25kg for men and 16kg for women.
