Kumho Signs Third Team for ALMS Season
(Akron/Tire Review) Kumho Tire U.S.A. will supply race tires to Intersport Racing for the upcoming 2007 American Le Mans Series season. Intersport, which runs an AER-powered Lola in the ALMS LMP2 class, will race on Kumho tires for the first time at the Mobil One Twelve Hours of Sebring on Mar. 17.
Kumho said that the team won the ALMS LMP2 class championship in 2003 and 2005, and took the LMP2 class at the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“We are eager to begin working with Intersport,” said Rudy Consolacion, Kumho’s motorsports manager. “Intersport is a privateer team that has proven it can go head to head with the big factory teams. The addition of Intersport to the Kumho mix (along with B-K Motorsports and van der Steur Racing) gives us a good shot at winning races and competing for the class championship in 2007.”
