F1 Fans Will See Red This Year
The FIA and all eleven competing Formula One teams have agreed upon the introduction of the so-called ‘red tyre rule’ for the 2007 season. This rule, strongly advocated by Bridgestone, will see the teams using both hard and soft compound tyres.
It is hoped that the red tyre rule will make for a more interesting race. Teams will be forced to deal with race conditions and change rubber accordingly. Spectators will be able to identify the soft compound tyres by a red sidewall, hence the rule’s name.
Formula One fans will be able to judge the success of the red tyre rule for themselves when the F1 2007 season commences with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 18.
