Cooper Tire Subsidiary Introduces New Application Tread
Cooper Tire and subsidiary Oliver Rubber Company have introduced their latest speciality application tread – the APWs.
The new APWs tread is designed for 70 per cent on-road and 30 per-cent off-road applications. It uses a compound known as Tri-Cor, and features a large and reportedly ‘aggressive’ tread pattern that features three circumferential self-cleaning grooves, which are designed to help make the product durable even when subject to high mileages.
Also present are wide squared-off shoulders and Oliver’s patented VDiplus™ visual depth indicator, a feature Cooper claims will reduce the retention of foreign substances and decrease the instances of stone drilling and casing penetration that can occur with speciality applications. Cooper states that the APWs is ideal for use on the steer axle, and is also suitable for drive and trailer positions. It can be used with confidence in ‘tough applications’ where cornering and scrubbing are encountered.
The APWs tread is available in sizes ranging from 220mm (9) to 270mm (14). The grooves have a depth of 21 mm.
