Big Savings With OTR
Introduced last year to meet growing demand from users of articulated dump trucks (ADTs), the OTR 750/65 R25 remould is reportedly returning excellent ‘hours per mm’ and ‘cost per hour’ figures.
OTR Sales Director Les Williams said that the company had invested in a new remould plant in order to meet the need for tyres in the growing ADT sector. The RTDN tread pattern has a large contact area for good traction and mobility in difficult working conditions, while the wide base provides excellent stability.
Customers’ own casings are rigorously tested before preparation and the remanufacturing process uses synthetic compounds for improved performance. The finished remould has an ‘as new’ appearance.
Tests were recently carried out on a sample of tyres – including premier brands and OTR remoulds – that had carried out more than 500 hours’ service. Working on hours per mm, analysis of ‘end of life’ tyres showed the OTR 750/65 R25 R7 to have a wear rate comparable to new tyres and projected figures for the 750/65 R25 look similar.
However, the ‘cost per hour’ results show positive results for the OTR R7 remould, while projected results for the RTDN show a level almost half that of the running costs of premier brands.
OTR says that its new generation of low profile remould tyres prove that quality retreads and good tyre management cam be very cost effective.
