European Volvo Deal for Goodyear
Volvo group commercial vehicles in Europe will be riding on Goodyear Dunlop tyres after the two companies recently signed a deal for the supply of OE tyres. The three-year agreement covers all European-manufactured Volvo trucks and buses and Renault trucks with rims 16” and larger. The tyres will be supplied from Goodyear Dunlop factories in Germany, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Turkey.
Hubert Coquet, Goodyear’s European director of original equipment truck tyre sales, says that Goodyear is “delighted” to continue their relationship with Volvo. He stated “We have worked with the company for many years and consider ourselves as a technical partner rather than a supplier.”
Goodyear Dunlop and Volvo have a history of joint cooperation, with Volvo having signed an agreement with the tyre maker’s parent company Sumitomo in 1999. Currently Goodyear holds over thirty per cent of the European commercial tyre OE market.
