Bridgestone Tyres Enhance Brera’s Handling
The Brera coupé is the latest of three Alfa Romeo launches in 2006 to come fitted with Bridgestone tyres and features the F1-derived, ultra-performance Potenza RE50As as an original equipment option. This product is also available on the new Alfa 159 and 159 Sportwagon.
Six versions of the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed, Pininfarina-built Brera are currently available on UK roads, including a 3.2 litre 260BHP V6 and the popular 2.4 litre 20v 200BHP JTD Multijet power plant. The Brera shares a common platform and many components with the Alfa 159.
The handling of the Brera is further enhanced by the Potenza RE050A tyres, which provide a high level of grip in all conditions, combined with a smooth, comfortable ride and low noise levels.
The tyre’s outer pattern features large blocks, providing the driver with a superior road holding ability, while its large contact area significantly improves cornering performance. The asymmetric tread design also features wide channels on the inside for rapid water evacuation. Even at high speeds the contact patch remains clear, minimising the chance of hydroplaning and providing greater grip on the road.
Other Alfa Romeo models to be fitted with Potenza RE050A tyres as standard equipment include the 147 GTA and Alfa GT. Sizes range from a 215/55 R16 to a 235/45 R18.
